Be also prepared that in order to attract a handsome bird to your glove you will handle some charming baby chicken corpses - I would imagine for some sensitive souls this was a bit of a problem. Well if the birds PREY then you must be tough too. Had a great half day there and would like to return for their hunting day. Weather really didn't matter. All professional and passionate. Privilege to be able to handle these wonderful creatures : giant owl, falcon, eagles to name a few.
Experienced peace and forgot my problems handling these massive birds of prey - what life is all about. The birds and the handlers could teach us more about enjoying and respecting life than computers and going out to the pub! Breathtaking, refreshing, amazing, friendly, exhilirating and worth the finding. I'd go back again - best for adults and youths, not for young children due to the mere size and handling required of these birds of prey but fascinating for young eyes nevertheless.
An excellent day out for businesses to see how REAL hunters succeed! I purchased a couple of Groupon vouchers for Phoenix Falconry Adrian who greeted us and did the introduction made it quiet clear we had a cheap deal and told us how much he received from Groupon and generally though t we should be very grateful to be there at the price we paid I was to polite to say anything but was seething inside.
Just as well he has Tom who absolutely draws you into the world of Falconry with his easy way and obvious love for the birds. I have learned so much about these lovely birds and the history and art of Falconry. The skill and knowledge of a falconer is amazing and to see and actually have these birds land and fly from your hand is a memory worth the making.
I know they do corporate events I am looking for something for an event but am afraid Adrian has put me of Phoenix I was so looking forward to this afternoon and I wasn't disappointed. The birds are truly wonderful and the falconers so knowledgable. Went along with my daughter and had a great morning. Started with video and light hearted lecture on birds of pray in general and the breeding program that they run.
Then off to meet the birds and the instructor. Started off with Cobalt, the Harris Hawk and walked along the tree line with several shots each in handling and flying this very acrobatic bird of prey.
Got to handle 7 birds in all. Ths experience was so exhilerating that we are going to return for the full day Falconry Adventure. This was such an enjoyable afternoon, which was educational and fun! We saw 6 different birds and got to stay at the end to see the instructor fly an adolescent Peregrine falcon. The instructor shared so much information on all of the birds and put us at ease when we were allowed to fly them ourselves.
All the birds had their own personalities which made it all the more enjoyable. A fantastic day out, we came away determined to come back. Highly recommended. We first booked the falconry lesson for our four teenage children who loved it. Tom Got the chance to see eggs and babies, and fly some lovely adult birds of prey.
We did the second experience as a birthday treat for my husband, and enjoyed it so much we have booked again for later on in the year!! It is not suitable for young children, below 10 yrs. I booked the three and a half falconry experience as a birthday gift for my husband and I went along as a spectator.
We both had a fantastic day! The location is beautiful, although make sure you have comprehensive directions as it is a little hard to find. We received a warm welcome on arrival and were soon thrown into an action packed and informative morning, learning an immense amount about the birds and practice of Falconry. Tom from Canada was a very entertaining guide, his dialogue being filled with good humour and interesting facts that kept us enthralled throughout the experience.
I did the Phoenix Experience and it was amazing. The birds were well looked after and performed well. The staff knew their stuff and had answers to all our questions. It was a great day out. We thoroughly enjoyed our morning in beautiful Perthshire on this quiet private falconry centre close to Gleneagles. The team were most wecoming and helpful and mixed information about the wide variety of birds with the fun of flying birds from little falcons to an enormous bald eagle.
The star of the show was their rescue Edna with her screeching voice and questionable manners. What kind of bird of prey is she? You will just have to go and find out. We hope take our extended family back at Easter. I only participated in this day since I would be waiting around for 3. I had very little interest in birds of prey at the start of the afternoon.
Within minutes I was hooked and by the end of the day I could visualise wanting to be a volunteer at the place. This is an amazing day and I felt privileged to be near these birds and to have a falconer impart his knowledge. You'll be entranced! Skip to main content.
