I went and he just blew my mind. His rasp, sad, mellow voice gives me goosebumps every time. He played through most of his favorites, chatted with the crowd a bit and overall was just fantastic. His interactions with the crowd were so real and personal I felt like he was talking to me specifically. The highlight though was his encore.
When someone can cover a song better than the original artist they are truly something special. Howie is a musical genius, and unlike some of the popular artists right now, he truly has passion and it is truly him speaking and singing through his music no some manufactured auto tuned stuff written by a team of writers. There was no social media explosion or talent show platform behind his self financed debut album 'Australia' released in and since then he has been on the road extensively around the globe to the ever growing fanbase. The tours themselves also gained huge reputation due to in-concert use of samplers and effects pedals which gives the impression of accompanying musicians whereas it is only one incredibly hard working man standing and entertaining for the whole evening.
Therefore the reactions are emphasised throughout the show as it is really an impressive feat to see one musician working so many different live elements and never making a single mistake. He holds the crowd for a set lasting fifteen which culminates in a singalong to 'Perfect Time Of Day' and '40 Hours' before Howie takes a well deserved final bow.
The venue was excellent. The show was the best I have seen. It was just Howie and his guitar, but the interaction with the audience was frequent and intimate. For the holidays, he gave free CD's to all.
The performance was amazing. He stayed afterward for pics and autographs. Best Saturday night I have spent in a long time.
Howie's performance was so intimate and intense I had chills throughout the entire performance. I love his stage presence; and ending with a meet and greet made it such an awesome experience from beginning to end!!
